Drool Over Desserts
You know those times where you are at a restaurant, and as you skim through the menu you see that table tent at the end of the table with a picture of the most beautiful dessert you have ever seen? The ooey gooey chocolate molten lave cake with vanilla ice cream, the luxurious new york style cheesecake. Whatever is, it grabs your attention...regardless if you decide to order it or not. If this obviously works at the restaurant, it probably works in social media right? Right indeed! On Outback Steakhouses Facebook page, a fan posted a picture of a delicious dessert they ordered. I know when I saw the picture, my eyes were glued and I wanted whatever it was right away (I settled for chocolate milk instead). Thumbs up to Outback for having awesome transparency!
Personally, the dessert that grabs my attention the most AND lures me into actually eating it..cheesecake. Especially if I see a picture of it. Of course, the Cheesecake Factory not only has a novel of a menu, but about 3 dozen cheesecakes to choose from. They also offer seasonal cheesecakes that are out of this world. They know it too and tweeted about it!
It's still Pumpkin Cheesecake Season but I'm already dreaming of Peppermint Bark Cheesecake! (Available Nov 26th)http://yfrog.com/n5cf1bmj8:46 PM Nov 10th via TweetDeck
Does that not look like a giant bite of Christmas cheer?? Be sure to check out your favorite restaurants or bakeries for their seasonal desserts, or just down right delicious ones. And don't hesitate to post pictures of your delightful experience with them either!
Also, a great way for restaurants serving seasonal treats like this to find their target audience is through Google Insights for Search! Here is an example of the results that could pop up.

Chick-fil-A Fans Going To Extremes
Usually when someone hears "Chick-fil-A" their mouth begins to water and their stomach starts to growl. Chick-fil-A certainly does have quite a few fans proven by their number or followers and fans on Facebook and Twitter. Chick-fil-A lovers jump on the chance to get a free meal, such as their "Receipt Day" enabling customers to buy anything they please on this day, and for the next month only they can bring in that same receipt and get all the items they purchased before for free. Pretty awesome deal! But would you go as far as tatooing a Chick-fil-A meal to your leg?? This guy did...and it only took one snapshot and a tweet to prove his dedication! Chick-fil-A is awesome for recognizing their loyal (and obsessed) fans!
ChickfilA Chick-fil-A, Inc.
This may be our most passionate & committed fan! @AlexShelnutt lemme get free food! I only have a chickfila tattoo. http://bit.ly/cLpbXV

Sharing YOUR Best Style
I couldn't have a blog about photos without mentioning Flickr! Flickr is an image hosting and video hosting social media site where anyone can join! It's widely used by bloggers to host photos they have embedded in their blogs and other social media sites. Company blogs and social media sites are also using this site and it's a great way to interact and share photos with their fans and customers. Forever 21 has real photos of real girls wearing their real clothes. I found this awesome because users can see these clothes on all shapes and sizes, proving that it can look great on anyone and not just the skinny model that is always portrayed. Since I can't actually post the photos on this post, here are the links to a few of the photos of these Forever 21 girls.
Forever 21 Dress
Forever 21 Shirt
Forever 21 Outfit
There are over 5 billion images uploaded to Flickr! I'm sure your favorite store, restaurant, car, etc. is posted somewhere on there. So have fun and get flickering!

Social Media Sites Get Seasonal
Fall weather, pumpkin spice, crunchy leaves, shopping, food, presents...the Holiday season is here! This is one of my favorite times of the year, and after keeping track of social media sites, it should be one of the most important times of the year for them too!
First off, it goes without saying that pictures create something within an individual. Just like the creative pyramid used advertising, pictures in social media should catch a fan's attention, keep their interest, prove credibility, create desire, and pursue them to take action. That's ultimately what these sites should be striving to do in every way possible!
Holiday season is an EXCELLENT opportunity for companies and businesses to really get creative and fun with their sites. I think they can all benefit somehow around this time! Think about it, people are shopping...so they have to eat too. People are traveling...so they have to fly (or drive). Anyway you look at it, companies, businesses and restaurants alike are obviously going to get business and will have customer interaction. And what's a great way to lure them in? Pictures of course!
One of my favorite companies, Chick-fil-A, not only does an outstanding job keeping up to date with their sites, they also do a great job sharing pictures with their fan and followers base! Here is one of their most recent RE-tweets of a little kid dressed up as one of the cows for Halloween!

Even smaller local places, such as Nalu's Tropical Take-out, have jumped on the social media AND picture bandwagon while taking advantage of this cooler weather season! Nalu's is known for their delicious burrito's and taco's (you should try them) with their infamous baha sauce. But seasonally, they offer homemade chili's and soups to get their cold, Floridian customers comfortable and satisfied. On their Facebook page, they have posted a picture of a sign promoting their homemade Chicken soup.
We can't talk about the Holiday season without mentioning Butterball! Butterball is known for their easy-to-make whole turkey's that are best sellers around this time of year. They are wise and update their sites multiple times of day during this time. Recently on their Facebook page they posted pictures of their 10th anniversary, including this mouth watering turkey that will be sure to impress customer! Who doesn't love seeing picture perfect photo's of FOOD?!
The Holiday season is just getting started, so stayed tuned for much more to come!

Why Not Add a Picture to that Status?
What is it about pictures that everybody loves? Do they tell a story? Do they give you a feel for actually being there? Do they capture the special moments in life, creating a memory forever? Perhaps give you a more visual, clear picture of what is going on? I believe pictures do all of these and more, and that's why companies and so forth using social media sites should consider using pictures to really draw consumers in.
As a twitter follower, I follow many companies and restaurants who do a great job of updating their sites daily. I noticed one restaurant in particular giving consumers a chance for free food if they simply tweeted in a picture! Which restaurant you may ask? Firehouse Subs! At every Firehouse location, you can donate $1 or 5$ to help a firefighter. With your donation, you get to sign your name on a paper medallion which they hang all across their store. All you have to do is buy a medallion, tweet a picture of it, and you get free food! Free food?? I'm there! Although I did not participate in this giveaway, I thought it was a great idea. Here is their clever tweet.

What's a great way for companies such as Firehouse to specify their target audience? Forrester groundswell tools are an excellent way to narrow it down.
